ACCA Chinese Language School

The Australian Chinese Community Association Chinese Language School is one of the oldest, largest and most renowned Chinese language schools in New South Wales. Founded in 1976, we have achieved the recognition and support from the government. Our classes include kindergarten, primary to high school levels in both Mandarin and Cantonese. In addition, we have adult Mandarin and Cantonese classes, as well as bridging Mandarin course for youths. We offer the complete series of Chinese education with well qualified and experienced teachers.

The school celebrated its 40th anniversary and 40 years of exellence in education on 26th November 2016.

Our school has achieved much success over the years. The school was conferred the honorary title of Chinese Language Education Model School in Overseas by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China in 2014. Our students had consistently won the NSW Minister’s Awards in the past years. Our school also has achieved much success in the annual National Chinese Eisteddfod. The former Prime Minister, John Howard, attended our school Speech Day in 2007. Furthermore, our school was given awards by City of Ryde Council and the Federation of Ethnic Schools of NSW for 33 years of community service.

Phil Xu, the Principal of the ACCA Chinese Language School, has been awarded the “Chinese Education Commendation Award” and also Rotary Club "Community Service Award" in recognition of his exceptional work in the field of Chinese education. The awards are something that Mr Xu and the school can be proud of.

National Chinese Eisteddfod

The National Chinese Eisteddfod, organised by the NSW Chinese Education Council and the Sing Tao Daily, has been held for more than twenty years. We are one of the long-term sponsors and participants of the competitions. In 2010, four of our students came first out of 9 individual events. Through the Eisteddfod, we aim to encourage student participation and promote cultural integration within the community.

The School Competitions
The ACCA Chinese School and its Parents’ Club held Mid-Autumn Lantern Design Competition and Chinese Calligraphy Competition every year.
The Lantern Competitions aims to inspire the creativity of the students and promote the understanding of Chinese cultural and traditions. The Calligraphy Competitions introduce the students to the traditional Chinese art of calligraphy and enhance the proper writing sequence of Chinese characters.
The winning artworks will be displayed during the school assembly and be published on the newspapers.

The Chinese School Parents’ Club
We believe the involvement of parents is instrumental in achieving the best possible learning outcomes of the students. Parents can help the students to overcome many of the barriers in learning the Chinese language.

Members of the Parents’ Club assist with school ground patrol and manage the Chinese library service during recess. In additions, They are involved in the organisation of various events, such as seminars on education issues, the National Chinese Eisteddfod, the Annual Speech Day and the Lantern Design Competition. We are extremely grateful of the support the parents have given us.
