Community Services

Community services provided by ACCA
ACCA provides a wide range of government-funded home and community care and migrant settlement services. The majority of ACCA’s service staff has formal qualifications in nursing, social work, and/or aged care. They are supported by  an efficient administration team based at head office in Surry Hills. Services are provided in the homes of clients, at community centres, or at ACCA’s own premises. ACCA provides a total of two CACP, three SGP, and eleven HACC programs.

Community Aged Care Packages (CACP)

These services provide high quality affordable and flexible care for the frail older people so that they can continue living independently in the home of their choice as long as possible. These services also support family members, friends and neighbours in their caring role. The type of services include the following –  companionship, shopping, light housework, transport to appointments, bill payments, banking, assistance with cooking, showering and dressing assistance, grooming, and outings. A  senior  staff is on emergency roster 24 hours/7 days.
 

Settlement Grants Programs (SGP)

The aim of the service is to assist new migrants to settle successfully in Australia so that they may participate as full members of the Australian society. Services include providing information, answering enquiries, community education, casework, group work, outreach services, community development and networking, and citizenship workshops. Generally, only migrants who have settled in the country for less than 5 years are eligible for the services.
 

National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP)

North Shore Respite Care Service for the Frail Aged

The aimed of this service is to contribute to the support and maintenance of caring relationships between carers and their dependent family members by facilitating access to information, respite care and other support appropriate to their individual needs and circumstances.  Direct respite care will be provided in day care centres, in which allow carers to have a short-term break from their usual caring role.
 
Chinese Dementia Respite Day Care – Western Sydney Area

The objectives of the Dementia Day Centres are to relieve pressure on families and carers. The dementia care-recipients from Chinese background are afforded the opportunities to socialise and meet new friends. Help are provided for them to engage in activities that maintain their physical and mental well-being. Support for carers, information and educational programs, and referral services are also provided.

The service provides structured and culturally appropriate group activities to frail older Chinese people according to the clients’ requests, needs, abilities and interests. It assists in the development, maintenance of their abilities for independent living, and social interaction. In addition, it will allow the carers and families to have a break.
The programme includes social activities, health and welfare talks, gentle exercise, excursions/ visits, handicrafts, games etc. Culturally appropriate ( Chinese ) meals at reasonable price are provided, and travel could be through self-transport or a home-pick up service. A small fee is charged for meals, transport (community bus service) and special programs. Referrals can be made by medical practitioner, health services personnel, or family members.

Seniors Groups Service

This service provides assistance and support to self-funded seniors groups that meet on a weekly basis. The groups provide culturally appropriate activities and programs for elderly Australians from Chinese background.


Meals Service

This Program provides “Meals on Wheels” and centre-based services for elderly ( 65 years and above ) and people with disabilities. Meals are delivered to their homes by devoted volunteers on every weekday of the year and are also available at the centres.

ACCA is pleased to announce that the Premier of NSW Barry O’Farrell will officially open the new Parramatta Centre building located at 15 Hunter St, Parramatta.
The Honourable Helen Sham-Ho was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) on the 2012 Australia Day.
ACCA was proud to participate in City of Sydney's annual Chinese New Year Twilight Parade. The parade on 29 January 2012 was the largest Chinese New Year celebration outside of Asia.
