Response to Racial Abuse of two sisters in Marrickville

It is with extreme disappointment that I view the footage of the outrageous attack on two sisters walking in Marrickville, seen to be verbally abused and allegedly spat upon in a vile act of racial abuse against Asian Australians.

Regardless of ethnicity, the Australian Chinese Community Association of NSW (ACCA) condemns this or any other such abusive behaviour, in the strongest of terms.

These are unprecedented times that the world and we as a nation find ourselves in, fighting an unseen adversary in Covid-19.

Now more than ever, we need to work cohesively as we have as a nation before, earning us a reputation for pulling together, especially during times of great hardship.

As we move through this difficult period and the days of recovery that follows, the ACCA wishes all in our community to remain unified, healthy and safe.

Ends.
