NSW Premiers Australia Day Reception

Monday, 2 February 2015

On 26th January 2015, Miranda and I attended the Premier’s Australia Day Reception. The reception was hosted by the Hon Mike Baird MP Premier of New South Wales at Old Government House in Parramatta.

Standing in 200 acres of parkland overlooking historic Parramatta, Old Government House is Australia’s oldest surviving public building. For seven decades, it was the ‘country’ residence of 10 early governors of the colony.

We were given a tour of the central block of the house that was built in 1799, including the Governor’s bedroom, the kitchen, chapel and the drawing room. The rooms were furnished with pieces of early colonial furniture.

It was indeed an eventful day. Not only did we see so many familiar faces but the day also gave us the opportunity to network with quite a few business leaders based in the Parramatta region.

The event kicked off with the Premier giving his speech, followed by Dr Geoff Lee MP and Parramatta Lord Mayor Scott Lloyd. Other attendees at the reception included Mrs Kerryn Baird, wife of the NSW Premier, the Hon Dr Helen Sham-Ho OAM, His Excellency Consul General Li Huaxin, the Hon Philip Ruddock MP, the Hon Victor Dominello MP, Ms Lynn Yeh, Managing Director of Homart Pharmaceuticals, Clr John Hugh of Parramatta and Clr Steve Yang of Auburn.
