Engagement with Parramatta ACCA Western Seniors Group

Tuesday, 14 October 2014

I have to date made several visits to the Parramatta office. The prime purpose of my visits have been to

  1. Engage with the members of the ACCA Western Seniors Group (AWSG).
  2. Observe and understand the kind of group activities being carried out
  3. Assess how funding money is spent

Last month’s visit was memorable, the meeting of members and more specifically:

  1. Election of committee members. Congratulations to:
  1. Kwok Hung CHAN - Group Leader
  2. Helena Chai - Deputy Group leader
  3. Jenny So – Deputy Group Leader
  1. Moon Cake Festival – in true tradition, the celebration included singing, raffle draw, games, decoration of the room with lanterns and more importantly the eating of moon cakes. Joy and a fun day for all.

In addition to the good work that the committee members are doing, I also take off my hat off to the other members of the group (specifically Helen Chan, Lau Wing Ling and Chan Kwan) for despite their age and seniority, remains committed to organising periodical group activities and functions for the benefit of many of the AWSG members. My visits thus far have been extremely beneficial as it has now given me a better insight into the operations and activities of the AWSG.

Over the next few months, it will be my intent to visit and engage with the other groups as well (City Central and Pennant Hills).
