On Friday 6th December, the ACCA Chinese Language School (CLS) held its annual awards presentation.

Congratulations to all students who received awards on the day.

Two students - Annie Zhou and Anila Bonfil (S4S) – were the MC for the day.  Anila, of Greek heritage, surprised almost everyone with her proficiency in the Chinese language!

Two students, Abby Shen and Maximillian Zhao (recently awarded the ‘2014 NSW Minister Award of Excellence in Student Achievement – Commended Award) were given their awards by Mr John Alexander.

Rosanna Lee received her award (2014 City of Ryde Excellence Award) from Clr Justin Li.

Other awards given out to students were for:

·     Academic

·     Prefect

·     Cover Design Competition

·     Chinese Eisteddfod

The perception that only Chinese students learnt Chinese/Mandarin is changing…the ACCA CLS enrolments now includes students from mixed or other ethnic groups!

Volunteers were not forgotten. Five volunteers received their ACCA Chinese Language School Services Awards – Ping GAO, Teresa Lee, Manna Cheung, Jenny Yuang, and Shirley Peng. Well done volunteers and thank you.

Guests were treated to special performances by the senior and junior students - singing and dancing.

It was very encouraging to see, despite being the last school day, the enthusiasm of Mr Phil Xu, Principal and the school teacher remained high.

On behalf of the ACCA Board, thank you Mr Phil Xu, school teachers and volunteers.  Your efforts are recognised and appreciated.

Felix Lam

President
