ACCA Management Visits the Consulate-General of China

The management of ACCA visited the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Sydney on 23 July 2014. They were cordially welcomed by Deputy Consul-General Xuejun Tong and Consul Yun Wang. New ACCA President Felix Lam, Secretary Miranda Budiman-Ho, General Manager Ted Seng, Vice President Maggie Wu, Shirley Chan, and Treasurer Xia Li Zhu introduced their respective areas of work.

President brought with him the ACCA News of the last three years and the latest annual report. ACCA has been providing services to both new and old migrants for 40 years, including: Home Care Packages, Respite Day Care, Dementia Services, Centre-based Day Care, etc. In addition, ACCA provides a variety of cultural enrichment activities such as interest classes, computer classes, dance group, exercise classes, taichi group, walking group, photography group, etc.

These outstanding contributions have received the recognition and support of the federal and state government as well as the care and encouragement of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Sydney. Deputy Consul-General Tong affectionately thanked ACCA for its dedication to the Chinese Australian over the years.

Consul Yun Wang was also very interested in the Chinese Language School of ACCA. The School have 250 students and offers various classes in Mandarin and Cantonese, including a special class for Chinese children adopted by Australian couples. The students have persevered in studying Chinese. These lovely children participate in Chinese culture activities such as Chinese recitation, Chinese New Year parade, ACCA Chinese New Year charity banquet, etc.

The one-hour meeting was warm, welcoming and encouraging. The management and volunteers of ACCA will, without complaints or regrets, carry forward eternally the spirit of charity from generation to generation.
