On 5th December 2014, ACCA held its Christmas party at the Eight Restaurant, Haymarket

A very well supported function with some 130 guests showing up. Attendees included Senator the Hon Concetta Ferravanti-Wells, Mr Mark Coure MP representing Premier Mike Baird, Mr Nick Lalich MP representing Leader of the Opposition John Robertson, Dr Geoff Lee MP, Mayor Gail Giles-Gidney, Mayor Brian Robson, Emeritus Mayor Le Lam, Clr Del Bennet, Clr John Hugh and Clr Justin Li. In addition, many leaders from the various community groups and a contingent from the Chinese media joined our current and former Presidents, Councillors and Board Members in celebrating the event.

Food was wonderful, plentiful and diverse – cold platter, spring rolls, noodles, friend rice, roast chicken etc. As usual Rita and Donald from the Eight Restaurant were always on the look-out to ensure we did not run out of food.

ACCA’s dancers performed a number of traditional dances to the delight of the crowd. The number of guests who wanted their photos taken with the dancers in their lovely costumer probably says it all. The week before ACCA dancers received recognition with a write-up of ACCA dancers in the Saturday Sydney Morning Herald.

Jackie, our person for all seasons (Executive PA, singer, dancer, speaks German) in her usual style sang a number of songs ….oh what professionalism!

It was indeed a great night! Many guests didn't know each other, but hearing their conversations and laughter taking off was just fantastic. And it didn't stop for after the party ended, some guests remained to chat away to enjoy each other’s company.

Vote of thanks to Jackie and Daniel for being MC for the night…to Maggie and her dancers, including her band of dedicated helpers who worked hard in decorating the room with tinsels to bring the spirit of Christmas alive…also many thanks to the photographers (Mr Cong, director Min Xiang Huang). Alex in his usual speedy style worked calmly but intensely behind the scenes, including Amy, Margaret, Agnes, Stella who manned the desk greeting the guests as they showed up. Without the efforts of team work, there would have been no party!

The Christmas party was a wonderful way to end 2014 on a positive note.
