ACCA Chinese Language School Speech Day 2015

Friday, 11 December 2015

On 5th December 2015, the ACCA Chinese Language School (“CLS”) held its speech day.

As I arrived, I could see there was much activity and excitement in the air…the sound system being tested, mothers preparing afternoon tea in the canteen, parents being ushered to their seats and the teachers were busy running after the children to group them in preparation of receipt of their awards.

No parents could have been more proud….many came with cameras in anticipation of a beautiful camera shoot of their children being called up to the stage.

Mr Felix Lam, ACCA’s President opened his speech with words of welcome. Clr Roy Maggio (City of Ryde Deputy Mayor), Clr Justin Li (City of Ryde) and Mr Tony Tang (President of Ryde Community Forum) all offered words of wisdom, encouragement and congratulations to the students, Principal and teachers of the school for their dedication in the teaching of the Chinese language to the students. ACCA Company Secretary, Ms Miranda Budiman expressed the prospect of seeing the CLS extending its teachings or opening up of a school in the Western centre area (Parramatta). Principal Phil Xu thanked the Chinese Consulate for their support and recognition given to the CLS as the Model School of Chinese Language Education (Dec 2014). Phil also thanked the teachers for their dedication and the parents for enrolling their children at the CLS

Two students, Miss Elizabeth Li and Miss Anila Bonfil were the MC for the day. To hear Anila speaking in near perfect Chinese was simply sensational and inspirational.

Students receiving awards of excellence and merit from the VIPs included Elizabeth Li, Brian Lee, Paige Mills and Emily Chen. There were also awards given to many other students, including to those students who had achieved placings in the National Chinese Eisteddfod. The Design Competition award went to Lim Hui En.

Appreciation certificates were presented to Ping Gao, Manna Cheung, Jenny Yuan and Ying Gao for recognition of their voluntary services to the CLS.

No speech day is complete without musical performances by the students.  The performances by the students, especially of the kindi children simply melted the hearts of many parents with their smiles and for some tears in their eyes.

Then all suddenly it was good bye, a sweet satisfying occasion and no doubt a long lasting impression and memory for many parents.
