The ACCA Chinese Language School (CLS) celebrated its 40^th Anniversary on 26^th November 2016 in Eastwood, where President Ms Shirley Chan officiated the event. Among the 250 guests who attended were many parents, students, teachers and VIPs including The Hon Victor Dominello MP, Minister for Innovation and Better Regulation, Dr Geoff Lee MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Multiculturalism, John Alexander MP, The Hon Ernest Wong MLC and Damien Tudehope MP. Other guests included Clr Roy Maggio and Clr Justin Li from City of Ryde Council, Mr Tony Tang President of Ryde Community Forum, Ms Narelle Barker President of Eastwood Rotary Club, and Dr Anthony Ching President of Chatswood Rotary Club. ACCA Secretary Mr John Hugh and Director Ms Xia Li Zhu also attended.

ACCA CLS is one of the oldest and most renowned Chinese language schools in New South Wales. It is funded by the NSW state government. In 2014, the CLS was awarded the “The Model School of Chinese Language Education” by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of China. Following this award, the CLS has received a grant in each of the last 2 years through the Chinese Consulate in Sydney. ACCA is extremely grateful to these two funding agencies.

The CLS has developed a series of courses to meet the needs of the community. The Mandarin and Cantonese courses range from kindergarten to high school levels. CLS also conducts Mandarin courses for adults and teenagers.

Apart from the above mentioned Mandarin and Cantonese courses, CLS also provide bridging Mandarin courses for youths. CLS has also commenced parents and children learning Chinese together in conversation classes. This method is especially useful where the adoptive parents are of non-Chinese background and their adoptive children are mostly from China. 

Over the past few years, the school and parents have jointly organised the following events:

a) Writing contest,

b) (Moon) Mid-autumn lantern design competition,

c) Cover design contest for senior students.
