2018 Elderly Services Chinese New Year Luncheon

ACCA hosted a Chinese New Year luncheon for its Elderly Services clients on Wednesday 21st February 2018 at the Marigold Restaurant, Haymarket to usher in the year of the dog. It was attended by more than 400 clients, carers, volunteers, staff, guests and directors.

The celebration began with the traditional Lion Dance which symbolises power, happiness, longevity and good fortune.

President Shirley Chan greeted everyone “Kung Hei Fatt Choy” and thanked them all for joining in this year’s Chinese New Year celebrations. Shirley said that ACCA has been providing high quality aged and community care services to the Chinese community in Sydney for many years. She added that ACCA has been providing NDIS services since last year and has received positive feedback from the community. She expressed her gratitude to the government for its support to ACCA and she also thanked ACCA staff and volunteers for their effort in organising the event.

The ACCA Dance group performed two traditional Chinese dances, Mongolian dance and Xinjiang dance to the delight of the audience.  

Independent Member for Sydney Alex Greenwich MP praised the aged and community care services ACCA has been providing to the Chinese community over the years. He also conveyed his Chinese New Year’s greetings to everyone present. 

Apart from Alex Greenwich MP, the guests who attended the event were, Tony Maroun, Emeritus Mayor, former Mayor of Strathfield and Burwood Councils, Christina Wu, Councillor of Georges River Council, Charlton Lok, Chairman Australia Global Union for Tsung Tsin and Hakka Association, and Patrick Wong, General Manager of Sing Tao Daily.
